Job Summary: In this role, you will help UNICEF deliver rapid, life-saving WASH and infection prevention support in response to the Ebola outbreak in Uganda, specifically, in the west Nile region. Working with government, UN agencies, NGOs and local partners, you will strengthen preparedness, coordination, supplies, capacity building and monitoring to ensure children, families and affected communities can access safe water, sanitation and hygiene services when they need them most.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Preparedness and Response: Support the planning and delivery of UNICEF’s emergency WASH and IPC response, including supplies, services, partnerships and response plans.
- Coordination: Strengthen WASH coordination with government, UN agencies, NGOs, technical pillars and district authorities to ensure timely, coherent and quality response.
- Capacity Building: Build partner capacity through tools, assessments, templates, training and technical support for WASH in emergencies.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor implementation, identify gaps and bottlenecks, support corrective action, and report on progress and results for affected children, families and communities.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
- Education: Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in Civil Engineering, Public Health Engineering, Public Health, Environment, Behavior Change Communication, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene and any other related fields.
- Work Experience: At least 2 years of relevant work experience in Construction of WASH facilities, Programme Management, Water & Environmental Sanitation, Emergency response, Emergency coordination, Infection prevention and control and any other related fields.
- Skills: Coordination, Capacity Development, Innovation, Monitoring and Reporting
- Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required.
Desirables
- Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
- Experience with donor agencies, experience with government partners, experience with NGOs, experience in ebola outbreak response, experience in public health response, knowledge of core commitments for children, experience in infection prevention and control
- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
