Cabana is a recruiting firm focused on placing exceptional engineers into a small number of high-performance startups across AI, infrastructure, robotics, and defense. The companies we partner with typically hire ex-Palantir, Stripe, Ramp, and similar engineering talent.

Trusted by many YC startups, we operate with a strong focus on quality, precision, and long-term partnerships. Our role is to identify and engage engineers who are often not actively looking but represent the top percentile of technical talent.

The Role

This is a pure technical sourcing role focused on identifying exceptional software engineers. You will be responsible for discovering candidates across GitHub, technical communities, startup ecosystems, and other high-signal platforms.

This role does not involve sales, client management, or closing candidates. Your sole focus is building high-quality candidate pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Identify and source high-quality software engineers using LinkedIn, GitHub, X, and technical platforms
• Use advanced sourcing techniques including Boolean search and X-ray search
• Build and maintain structured candidate pipelines
• Evaluate candidate profiles for technical strength and relevance
• Collaborate closely with the founder to support active searches

Requirements

• 1+ years experience sourcing technical or software engineering candidates
• Strong ability to identify high-quality technical profiles
• Experience using LinkedIn Recruiter, GitHub, or similar platforms
• Strong attention to detail and research ability
• Self-directed and comfortable working independently

Strong Plus Signals

• Experience sourcing engineers for startups or high-growth companies
• Experience sourcing backend, infrastructure, or systems engineers
• Familiarity with GitHub, Stack Overflow, or competitive programming platforms
• Experience in technical recruiting or talent research
