High-level Overview
The client is seeking a Senior Product Engineer to strengthen its battery and energy storage engineering capability, with a clear emphasis on lithium-ion products. The role sits between design, validation, and industrialization, helping ensure concepts are translated into reliable, manufacturable solutions that perform in the field. The successful candidate will provide senior technical input across product refinement, testing, and release, while supporting production teams where engineering judgment is needed to resolve quality or implementation issues. The ideal candidate will bring credible battery systems expertise, practical experience moving products from concept through commercialization, and the ability to guide a small engineering team with clarity and pragmatism.
Role & Responsibilities

Deliverables:
- Lead product development activities across lithium-ion battery and energy storage products from concept refinement through validation and release.
- Drive product performance, reliability, and quality improvements through structured testing, analysis, and engineering problem-solving.
- Support product industrialization and manufacturing readiness to enable successful production implementation.
- Provide technical guidance and supervision to a small team of junior and mid-level engineers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to resolve technical issues affecting product performance, manufacturability, or customer outcomes.
- Contribute to engineering documentation, design controls, validation processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide manufacturing and production support as required to maintain product quality and operational performance.
Requirements
Experience required:
- Demonstrated experience developing lithium-ion battery products, battery packs, BESS solutions, or related energy storage technologies.
- Experience taking products through development, testing, validation, and commercialization stages.
- Experience working in product engineering environments that support both innovation and operational delivery.
- Exposure to manufacturing environments and production support activities.
- Experience supervising, mentoring, or technically guiding engineering teams.
Technical requirements:
- Strong understanding of lithium-ion battery systems, pack architecture, BMS integration, thermal management, and product performance considerations.
- Ability to assess design trade-offs and make sound engineering decisions across product lifecycle stages.
- Experience with product validation, testing methodologies, root-cause analysis, and reliability improvement.
- Understanding of manufacturability, production readiness, and engineering change management principles.
- Strong technical judgment within battery, energy storage, or related electrical engineering environments.
Soft skills:
- Hands-on and pragmatic approach to engineering challenges.
- Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining alignment with broader business objectives.
- Collaborative leadership style with the ability to coach and develop less experienced engineers.
- Structured problem-solving capability and sound decision-making under pressure.
Additional information about desired profiles:
Candidates with deep and credible lithium-ion battery product development experience will be prioritized. Broader exposure across battery energy storage systems is highly desirable. Manufacturing and production support experience is beneficial, but secondary to strong product engineering capability.
