Uganda Railways Corporation (URC) is a body Corporate established by the URC Act. The mandate of the Corporation is to undertake Construction, Operation and Maintenance of Railway, Marine and Road services, both in and outside of Uganda for the carriage of passengers and goods. Applications are invited from suitable qualified Ugandans to fill the following positions:
Responsibilities or duties
- Assisting the Permanent Way Inspector in the supervision and execution of all track maintenance and inspection duties .
- Carrying out routine inspections of the track as directed, including checking on the work of gangs and reporting defects .
- Performing specific checks on curves, points, and crossings and assisting in taking measurements and recording data .
- Supervising and guiding Artisans and gang members in their daily work, ensuring they follow correct maintenance methods .
- Stepping in to perform the duties of the Permanent Way Inspector in their absence or as delegated .
- Maintaining records of work performed by artisans and workmen .
- Assisting in the witnessing of payments to staff and managing establishment-related matters as required .
- Ensuring all necessary safety rules and regulations are known and followed by the staff under their supervision .
