Uganda Railways Corporation (URC) is a body Corporate established by the URC Act. The mandate of the Corporation is to undertake Construction, Operation and Maintenance of Railway, Marine and Road services, both in and outside of Uganda for the carriage of passengers and goods. Applications are invited from suitable qualified Ugandans to fill the following positions:
Responsibilities or duties
- Patrolling assigned sections of the railway track to identify and report any damaged or broken tracks, loose fastenings, or other hazards .
- Monitoring the track for signs of danger, especially during and after heavy rains, to ensure the safe passage of trains .
- Carrying out systematic patrolling according to a pre-determined patrol chart and schedule .
- Immediately reporting any damage or obstruction on the track to the nearest station or the Permanent Way Inspector .
- Using and maintaining the patrol equipment, including the patrol book and any other supplied tools .
- Adhering to all safety rules and regulations during patrols, including protecting the line in case of an emergency .
- Observing the condition of level crossings, bridges, and other structures and reporting any irregularities .
- Assisting in the protection of the track during works and carrying out minor maintenance tasks as instructed by their supervisor .
