Job Summary: The Project Coordinator, with support from the Program Manager Bunyoro is responsible for the day-to-day coordination around the planning and implementation of Participatory Integrated Planning (PIP) activities under the project in Kiryandongo refugee settlement and host community in Kiryandongo District.
The Project Coordinator supervises 3 project officers in charge of PIP.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
General
- Coordinates project activities in line with the workplan to achieve optimal project outputs and outcomes in line with ZOA/donor procedures and targets;
- Supports project staff in their different roles and responsibilities to implement the project activities;
- Ensures project outputs are consistent with the overall project plan, log frame and in line with quality standards and country policies;
- Oversees and ensures implementation is in line with standards and policies of both ZOA and Government of Uganda;
- Coordinates with relevant partners in Kiryandongo on issues around livelihoods
- Organize regular project review meetings with CVC committees
- Support set up of demonstration plots for learning on conservation practices
- Responsible for beneficiary accountability within the project
- Provide technical support to the PIP officers for efficient and effective implementation
- Work with selected Household to ensure their PIP plans are developed and implemented within their available resource.
Reporting
- Provide inputs to implementation plans and activity/monthly reports;
- Identify, document lessons learned and best practices;
- Prepare and submit well written success stories;
- Contribute to project reports or implementation plans as required by supervisor;
- Collect monitoring data according to ZOA’s systems and activities in the project;
- Representation and coordination
- Actively participate in the required and relevant technical working groups;
- Participate in relevant coordination meetings concerning the project.
- Regular coordination with local government actors and relevant district offices; OPM, UNHCR and other NGO partners.
- Contact other project specific actors, e.g. consultants or service providers.
Human Resource Management
- Ensure the Community based facilitators have weekly and monthly targets;
- Conduct weekly or monthly meeting to achieve targets;
- Conduct staff appraisal/evaluation as per ZOA’s policy;
- Provide technical support through coaching and mentorship of community-based facilitators for quality implementation of project activities.
- Procurement and finance
- Initiate timely purchase requisition of project goods/services;
- Ensure expenses are in line with approved budget;
- Provide appropriate codes for expenses.
Accountability
- Sensitize all stakeholders (beneficiaries, service providers, partners, government and other) on feedback and complaint mechanisms implemented by ZOA Uganda
- Upon receipt of a complaint or feedback, ensure that it is correctly documented following correct reporting procedures
- Understand ZOA’s code of conduct and safeguarding policies, ensure adherence to these policies and that project activities are implemented with a “Do No Harm” approach
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Identity

Knowledge & Experience:
- Degree in Agricultural Sciences, Agribusiness, Agricultural Education, development studies, Project Planning & related fields;
- Specialized qualifications in agriculture, agri-business, financial inclusion welcomed
- At least 3 years successful experience in a similar position implementing livelihoods related projects; Experience with the PIP approach is highly valued
- Good understanding of the Uganda context; experience in Refugee setting, especially in Kiryandongo, is a plus;
- Knowledge and experience in one or more of the following fields: Food security, land rights, inclusion and gender, lobby & advocacy, MEAL Understanding of the refugee context, culture, and languages as an added value;
- Experience in localization approaches;
- Experience in implementing community empowerment approaches such as PIP is a plus
- A good command of English, including written reporting and activity reporting
- Experience of working with is a plus
- Experience working in the refugee settlement context is a plus
- High level of networking capacities

- Motivated to work independently / self-managing
- Good computer skills: Ms Excel and Ms Word;

- Ability to drive a motorcycle with valid driving/riding license is a MUST.
