Description

Advancing Agency and Leadership for Structurally Silenced Persons Through Ecofeminist Climate Justice and Sustainable Livelihoods in Uganda
Rights 4 Her Uganda is pleased to announce a Call for Nominations and Expressions of Interest for the inaugural cohort of the POWER Ambassadors for Ecofeminist Climate Justice, Community Leadership, Peace building and Resilience under the POWER Project (People and Organizations Working for Equality and Rights).
The POWER Project is a community-led initiative that seeks to strengthen agency, leadership, climate resilience, sustainable livelihoods, social inclusion, environmental stewardship, conflict transformation, and community well being across Uganda.
Across many structurally silenced communities, climate change, environmental degradation, poverty, shrinking civic space, inequality, and exclusion continue to undermine resilience, livelihoods, social cohesion, and opportunities for meaningful participation in development processes. At the same time, structurally silenced communities continue to demonstrate remarkable resilience, innovation, local knowledge and leadership potential capable of driving sustainable transformation.
To strengthen this local leadership and build a network of grassroots change-makers, Rights 4 Her Uganda seeks to train, empower and mentor 20 POWER Ambassadors who will champion ecofeminist climate justice, sustainable livelihoods, peace building, environmental stewardship and inclusive community development within their communities.
About the POWER Ambassador Programme
The POWER Ambassador Programme is a leadership and movement-building initiative designed to equip grassroots leaders with the knowledge, skills, networks, and tools needed to strengthen structurally silenced community’s resilience, promote social cohesion, advance climate justice, support sustainable livelihoods, and facilitate positive community transformation.
The programme recognizes that sustainable development requires structurally silenced persons themselves to become leaders, innovators, advocates, peace builders, and custodians of environmental and social justice.
