Job Summary: The primary objective of the Expert Associate assignment is to support the effective implementation of WYEEFIMA Program activities at community level within the West Nile and Northern Region. The Expert Associate will serve as a key link between the program and local communities through participant mobilization, field coordination, trainings, stakeholder engagement, data collection, and reporting to enhance women and youth participation in fisheries trade and related enterprises.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Expert Associate will support the WYEEFIMA Program in the following areas:
- Represent the WYEEFIMA Program within the implementation areas to support community engagement and job creation.
- Supervise Trainers of Trainers (TOTs) during program implementation.
- Mobilize and support enrollment of program participants into the designated digital data-collection platform (ODK).
- Support TOTs in conducting last-mile trainings in fish post-harvest handling (PHH), food processing, and value addition.
- Coordinate vendors providing trainings and capacity-building support to program participants.
- Support tracking and reporting of fish and fish products traded both domestically and across borders.
- Support MEAL activities, documentation of success stories, and submission of timely field reports.
- Participate in the distribution and follow-up of co-financed start-up kits and enterprise development activities.
- Work closely with association partners, local leaders, district fisheries officers, and other stakeholders during program activities.
- Participate in meetings, trainings, workshops, stakeholder engagements, and coordination calls.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Applicants should possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries, Agriculture, Aquaculture, Agribusiness, Rural Development, Economics, Entrepreneurship, or a related field.
- At least three (3) years of experience in fisheries value chain development, community development, or field-based program implementation.
- Experience supervising field agents or community facilitators.
- Strong familiarity with the local context; residency in the target area is a significant advantage.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for engaging diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Knowledge of local Luo languages spoken within the target districts of Amuru, Pakwach, Nebbi, Bulisa, Gulu, Arua is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in Kiswahili will be an added advantage for effective community engagement and cross-border trade activities.
