The Bank provides professional and personalized commercial banking services to various sectors of the economy including financial support to Parastatals, Corporates, Small and Medium Enterprises, Individuals, and Non-Governmental Organisations.

Job Summary: Oversee and manage the credit administration function of the bank by coordinating the disbursement, monitoring, and maintenance of credit facilities, as well as ensuring the proper documentation and security of all loan transactions while maintaining compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and implement strategies for credit administration in line with the credit policy and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and statutory requirements to adhere to the set sanctioned conditions and avoid any penalties to the Bank.
  • Manage the bank’s securities by ensuring they are duly and adequately signed, perfected, and kept in safe custody as guided by the bank policies.
  • Review credit files and confirm that all approved terms and conditions; and covenants have been captured before the disbursement is done.
  • Manage law firms on preparing and registering security and other documents to ensure firm control of security properties during the lending period.
  • Verify entries to confirm that the approved loans and advances captured in the system are accurate, as well as monitor post-disbursement transactions daily for borrowing accounts in the system and flag them for action.
  • Develop, motivate, and manage a high-performance team committed to achieving success through each other by coaching, mentoring, and evaluating the staff and managing leave in the unit per HR policies and procedures.
  • Perform monthly portfolio analysis and risk assessment by market segment, product, sector, and internal credit rating
  • Manage credit information sharing with the CRBs in line with the CRB Regulations Act.
  • Apply best practices and standardisation of Credit Administration processes and practices.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of credit administration policies and procedures to streamline workflow and improve the processes to improve the bottom line while managing risk.
  • Review and manage the generation and submission of Credit reports for administrative, financial, and regulatory reporting.
  • Ensure all Insurance policies and Valuations are up to date and in order.
  • Ensure collateral registration complies with regulatory and bank credit policy.
  • Ensure that all credit documents are safely kept under a dual control system and monitor the expiry date of collateral/guarantee.
  • Update internal and external policies governing Credit Administration activities and establish proper communication among internal and external stakeholders.
  • Liaise with business technology to provide remedial action for system issues in line with credit policy and ensure data integrity in line with regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate, develop, and implement a checklist for disbursement of credit facilities in line with credit policy.
  • Responsible for the Credit Administration Budget and targets.
  • Any other duty as shall be assigned to you from time to time.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, or a related field
  • Professional Certification in CRM/CPA/ACCA or a Master’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field is an added advantage.

Experience

  • At least 6 years of credit experience in a financial institution, 3 in Credit Administration Management.
  • Strong understanding of lending processes and regulatory requirements.
  • knowledge of banking regulations, legal requirements, and industry standards related to credit administration, including documentation, collateral registration, and loan disbursement processes.
  • Ability to implement and monitor internal controls to ensure approved terms and conditions make disbursements.
  • Ability to ensure that all security interests are legally perfected and enforceable.
  • experience in monitoring credit exposures, loan performance, and compliance with loan covenants.
  • knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements related to credit activities, such as capital adequacy, provisioning, and exposure limits.
  • IFRS9 proficient and application
  • Ability to lead and exercise authority through expertise and experience.
