About the Role

East African Medical Vitals Ltd is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Manufacturing & Operations to join its Executive Team. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving manufacturing excellence, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement across the organization. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring high-quality product delivery, cost optimization, and alignment of manufacturing operations with business objectives.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Lead end-to-end manufacturing operations including Production, Sterilization, Packing, and Engineering & Projects.
  • Develop and implement manufacturing strategies aligned with company goals.
  • Collaborate with the Managing Director on business strategy, operational planning, and execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence across all functions.

Financial & Cost Management

  • Manage departmental budgets and oversee cost control initiatives.
  • Optimize plant efficiency, reduce downtime, and ensure effective capacity utilization.
  • Oversee inventory management and production planning to meet cost, quality, and delivery targets.
  • Prepare annual manufacturing budgets, forecasts, and capital expenditure proposals.

Regulatory Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and cGMP practices.
  • Lead audit processes and act as the primary representative during inspections.
  • Promote a strong culture of health, safety, and environmental compliance.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators and industry partners.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to the Managing Director and shareholders.

Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams across manufacturing functions.
  • Oversee recruitment, training, and performance management processes.
  • Establish KPIs and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Polymer, Chemical, Mechanical, or Textile), Bio Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Management is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in plant or senior management roles within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and cGMP standards.
  • Membership in a relevant professional body is an added advantage.
