About Organisation:
Yalelo (U) Limited is a tilapia fish farm that was established in Uganda in 2019. The farm is located in Butembe, Buikwe district on the shores of Lake Victoria. Yalelo Uganda is a subsidiary of First Wave Group B.V; a Dutch company with a portfolio of aquaculture related assets in Africa. First Wave Group owns and operates Yalelo Zambia, a pioneer of Aquaculture founded in 2011 that has grown quickly to become the leading fish farm in Zambia and among the largest aquaculture farms in Africa.
Job Summary: Responsible for feeding fish and achieving a target size with maximum growth and Survival rates.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Feeding fish on a daily basis in line with supervisor’s instructions.
- Monitor the feeding behaviour and general health of the fish as well as reporting any irregularities to the supervisor.
- Collect and accurately record mortalities.
- Correct disposal of mortalities on a daily basis.
- Ensure that mortality buckets and Nets are properly Sanitized on a daily basis.
- Scoop nets must be maintained and kept properly every after use.
- Ensure that all nets are secured to the cage frame properly.
- Ensure all equipment is kept neat and tidy at all time.
- Make requests for the required quantity of feed for the following days feeding.
- Maintain a neat and tidy work area.
- Record feed and mortalities accurately into the carbon copy book at every end of the day.
- Accountability of every bag of feed received and fed.
- Adhere to the established Company’s health and safety policies.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor / Line Manager.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Diploma in Fisheries Management and Technologies /UACE/UCE
- 1 year experience with cage farming in beneficial
- Ability to swim and be comfortable on water.
- Ability to solve and do simple math calculations.
- Good Communication skills including reading and writing Skills.
- Highly self-motivated and working with minimal supervision.
- Hardworking, capable of being involved in farming operations
- Should be honest
- Must be able to work in a team environment and interact well with others.
