About Organisation:

East African Crude Oil Pipeline co (EACOP) is in charge of the construction and the operation of the 1,443km crude oil export infrastructure that will transport Uganda’s crude oil from Kabaale – Hoima in Uganda to the Chongoleani peninsula near Tanga port in Tanzania for export to the international market.

 

Job Summary: The Electrical Engineering Graduate Trainee will support the CFR team in the execution, monitoring, and maintenance of electrical systems associated with the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project. The trainee will gain practical exposure to electrical engineering operations, project implementation, power distribution systems, instrumentation interfaces, and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements.

The trainee will participate in engineering activities aimed at ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical infrastructure while developing the technical and professional competencies.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the day to day monitoring  of the installation of electrical equipment at EACOP sites.
  • Support electrical engineering activities during project execution, commissioning, and operational readiness phases.
  • Participate in inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring of electrical installations.
  • Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and equipment documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports, maintenance records, and engineering documentation.
  • Support compliance with company HSE standards, industry regulations, and engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, instrumentation, operations, and project teams for successful project execution.
  • Undertake structured learning and development activities as part of the graduate trainee program.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field from a recognized University.
  • Minimum academic performance requirement of a Second-Class Upper Division or above.
  • Graduation within last 1–2 years.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Membership or eligibility for registration with the relevant professional engineering body, such as the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) and/or Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers (UIPE), may be an added advantage.
