Double Q Company Limited is a provider of heavy transport solutions, including trucks and excavators, with an extensive product-related service offering that includes: vehicle financing, insurance, GPS and rental services. Double Q Co. Ltd is the leading and authorized distributor of SINOTRUK and XCMG road equipment, as well as spare parts and accessories for heavy machines and trucks in Uganda. This includes trucks, mobile cranes and excavators, as well as product related service offerings such as: vehicle financing, insurance, GPS and rental services to enable our clients to focus on their core business.

Job Summary: The Purchaser is responsible for sourcing, procuring, and ensuring the timely delivery of spare parts, accessories, and related supplies required by the business. The role ensures cost-effective purchasing, supplier relationship management, inventory optimization, and compliance with company procurement policies.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Procurement and Sourcing

  • Source and procure, spare parts, consumables, and related equipment in line with company requirements.
  • Obtain quotations, analyze supplier offers, and negotiate favorable prices, terms, and delivery schedules.
  • Prepare and process purchase orders and other procurement documentation.
  • Monitor market trends and identify alternative suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and uninterrupted supply.

Supplier Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with local suppliers.
  • Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery timelines, pricing, and service levels.
  • Resolve supplier-related issues and escalate critical concerns where necessary.

Inventory Management

  • Work closely with the stores and sales teams to monitor stock levels and forecast procurement needs.
  • Ensure timely replenishment of stock to avoid shortages and operational disruptions.
  • Participate in stock counts and inventory reconciliation exercises.

Compliance and Reporting

  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and supplier databases.
  • Prepare procurement reports, purchase analysis reports, and supplier performance reports.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing procurement documentation as required.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Professional qualification in Procurement (CIPS or equivalent) is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in procurement, preferably in heavy machinery, automotive, engineering, or construction equipment.
  • Experience handling imports and international suppliers is desirable.

Competencies and Skills

  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Knowledge of procurement principles and inventory management.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
  • High level of integrity and attention to detail.
