Job Summary: The Counsellor will provide effective counselling services to graduate, undergraduate and post medical trainees at The Aga Khan University.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop programs and resources for psychological well-being. Participate in developing and implementing counselling strategies for students at the university
- Student Mental Health Support, Crisis Management & Intervention
- Documentation & Confidentiality
- Mental Health Promotion & Prevention
- Program, Workshop Development and Resource development
- Interdepartmental Collaboration & Referrals
- Environmental & Systemic Advocacy
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Applicants should have:
- Degree in psychology, preferably Degree of Science or Degree of Philosophy in Clinical/Counselling Psychology
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience in counselling/psychotherapy in educational or clinical settings
- Experience working with adolescents and adult populations and conducting psycho educational, psychological assessments, programs, and reporting.
- Sound knowledge of counselling and psychotherapy theories and techniques
- Membership of the Uganda Counselling Association is an added advantage.
- Fluency in spoken English including public speaking and excellent written English skills to develop self-help content and proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
