Q-Sourcing Limited trading as Q-Sourcing Servtec is a manpower management solutions firm operating in the East African Region in the countries of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and South Sudan.
On behalf of our client SINOPEC, we are looking for a competent, skilled, and experienced Welding Inspector to work at Site in Uganda
Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
- Assist in compiling of company Quality Plan, Inspection & Test Plan (ITP), and Quality
Procedures and all pertained QA/QC documentation prior to commencement of any
fabrication/construction work
- Witness and monitor site welding activities, inspection, and test in accordance with the
approved Quality Plan, ITP, Quality Procedures, etc.
- Promote quality awareness throughout the organization, emphasizing excellence,
continuous improvement, and corrective action to influence the overall success of
company business.
- Assist in compiling of company Quality Plan, Inspection & Test Plan (ITP), and Quality
Procedures and all pertained QA/QC documentation prior to commencement of any
fabrication/construction work.
- Verify the implementation of PTW (permit to work) and other safety procedures.
- Conduct quality inspection at site locations in accordance with the Project's quality culture.
- Report daily all welding activities in a timely manner
- Ensure welders are aware of relevant, up-to-date codes, standards, specifications, and
drawings.
- Interface with the Quality manager, construction engineer, and other inspectors in a
professional manner.
- Support the company personnel by performing additional tasks as directed and
commensurate with his/her skills.
- Approve a work Supplier/client has been by attending inspection/test or reviewing
documents.
- Reinforce the company HSE requirements when on site
- Oversee inspection of mechanical equipment, piping, structure, and welding activities
conducted at construction sites
- Review original material certificate for compliance with codes and specifications.
- Ensure testing, measuring, welding, and NDE equipment is fully calibrated per
specification and has current certification.
- Ensure storage and handling of welding consumables is per the manufacturer's
recommendations/specifications and has a certification.
- Verify that equipment is preserved per the supplier's recommendation and the approved
preservation procedures.
- Witness / Participate in material Receiving Inspection at the construction site to identify
damage or deficiency.
- Witness in-process inspections per ITP and Inspection Requests to ensure work proceeds
in accordance with specifications, the approved drawings and procedures
- Verify rogue and counterfeit items during inspection or surveillance and immediately
report Quality Manager if any.
- Actively participate in company Safety meetings
Required Qualifications & Experience
Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degrees in electrical/Instrument/Telecoms engineering or Trained qualifications ( welding CSWIP 3.1/AWS CWI)
Required experience
- Minimum of 10 years experience in the Oil and Gas industry specifically large construction projects, with thorough knowledge of various safety regulations, standards, procedures
- Good knowledge of codes and standards related to the Instrumentation discipline.
- Recognized level of expertise in construction discipline with a good knowledge of TOTAL E&P general specifications/Contractors in oil and gas construction projects.
- The ideal candidate shall be fully conversant with applicable Oil and Gas Industry International Codes, Standards as well as best Industry Practices.
- A good awareness of other disciplines. Significant responsibility in multi-discipline teams or projects.
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills as well as a good level of computer literacy and be proficient in Microsoft Office.
