As a Staff Backend Engineer, you will play a key role in enhancing and scaling the developer experience across engineering teams. You will lead initiatives that simplify development workflows, modernize testing strategies, and improve CI/CD efficiency. Working in a collaborative, global, and remote-first environment, you will combine hands-on coding in Ruby and Go with technical leadership to remove bottlenecks and shape the internal development ecosystem. This role offers high visibility, cross-functional influence, and the opportunity to drive transformative impact on engineering culture and productivity across the organization.

Accountabilities:

  • Drive technical excellence and provide hands-on contributions across multiple Developer Experience teams
  • Collaborate with engineering groups to identify and eliminate development pain points and systemic inefficiencies
  • Lead modernization efforts in testing frameworks to improve speed, reliability, and scalability
  • Optimize CI/CD pipelines to reduce friction, improve feedback loops, and accelerate delivery
  • Partner with platform, infrastructure, and product teams to resolve architectural challenges and improve developer workflows
  • Foster a culture of innovation, inclusion, and continuous improvement across distributed teams

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading large-scale developer tooling, DevEx, or platform engineering initiatives
  • Strong background in backend development, with hands-on expertise in Ruby and familiarity with Go
  • Deep understanding of DevOps workflows, testing frameworks, and CI/CD systems
  • Demonstrated ability to influence across teams without formal authority and collaborate effectively in remote, cross-functional settings
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly
  • A product-oriented mindset focused on improving developer productivity and experience
  • Alignment with values of collaboration, transparency, and iteration

Benefits

  • 100% remote and asynchronous work environment
  • Competitive compensation, including equity and stock purchase options
  • Flexible paid time off and generous parental leave
  • Comprehensive health, wellness, and financial benefits
  • Growth and professional development budget
  • Inclusive culture supported by resource groups and continuous learning opportunities
  • Home office setup support for remote productivity
