JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose
To represent Uganda Registration Services Bureau in courts of law and provide accurate and strategic legal advice to ensure sound legal standing for the Bureau.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Represent the Bureau in Courts of law and handle any other litigation-related matters.
- Provide legal advice to the Bureau and its clients on compliance with relevant laws and legal requirements pertaining to the Bureau’s mandate and operations.
- Review laws, rules, regulations and policies applicable to the Bureau, which may be affected by new legislation, policy changes and developments in the administration of justice and advise management accordingly.
- Review and/or prepare contractual documents with third parties and ensure that the Bureau’s interests are taken care of.
- Develop and implement legal department strategies, budgets and work plans for the department.
- Identify potential legal risks and advise management on mitigation strategies.
- Prepare periodic reports for submission to Management and the Board on implementation of planned activities.
- Identify, manage legal related stakeholders and represent the Bureau in national, regional and international engagements as and when assigned.
- Organize department meetings, take and distribute minutes and follow up on agreed action points.
- Conduct legal research pertaining to legal matters within the Bureau and those affecting the Bureau’s operations.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisors and Management.
Qualifications, Experience and Values
- Bachelor of Laws (Honors) from a recognized institution is a MUST.
- Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from a recognized institution is a MUST.
- Possession of a valid Practicing certificate is a MUST.
- At least five (5) years of executing litigation and advisory functions in a reputable public or private organization.
- Deep knowledge and understanding of relevant laws.
- Excellent leadership skills, ability to work under minimum supervision and supervise legal teams.
- Excellent computer literacy skills.

- Good communication and writing skills
