Our client is the country’s leading manufacturer and supplier of roofing sheets and has the widest range of roofing products in galvanized, aluminium-zinc coated and pre-painted material. Uganda Baati is a specialist in providing customized roofing solutions

Uganda Baati is looking for a competent and experienced Sales Officer to be based in Tororo, Uganda.

Position overview
The Sales Officer will develop designated markets for the Company’s products and services by growing the sales in the region while exhibiting excellent customer service and maintaining a good working relationship with both the new and existing clients.

Reports To: Sales Manager.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Area development through stockist network pertaining to dealers and second level retailers to promote all company products in designated region covering all surrounding districts markets.
  • Ensuring achievement of product wise, value wise daily and monthly targets.
  • Ensuring product premium over nearest competition by establishing product attribution of UBL products expected product premium of the nearest competition.
  • Ensuring tight controls on collection and debtor days achieving the monthly collection targets.
  • Ensuring effective sales promotion activities like retail meet, fundi meet, display at retail places and other related sales & marketing activities.
  • New market development, identifying and the potential new customers to achieve the budget and target set for the region.
  • Effective market coverage with minimum expected visit plan, competitors’ activities monitoring in competitors’ prices and other information as and when required.
  • Collection of project information of the surrounding areas and passing on the information to the Supervisor for further inputs to close the business.
  • Monitoring stock levels of the distributors as well as for the competitors.
  • Tight control on expenses within budget.
  • Sells products by establishing contact and developing relationships with prospects, recommending solutions.
  • Maintains relationships with clients by providing support, information, and guidance; researching and recommending new opportunities; recommending profit and service improvements.

Academic/Professional qualifications, work experience, knowledge & skills

Essential:

  • A Degree from a recognised University
  • Qualification in sales and marketing will be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ relevant working experience in a Distribution Company for Steel, Construction or FMCG products
  • Proficiency in English & the local language
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office
  • Thorough understanding of marketing and negotiating techniques
  • Fast learner and passion for sales
  • Self-motivated with a results-driven approach
