Background information about the job or company:

The incumbent will be responsible to the Assistant Commissioner E-Services for performing the following duties:-

    • Advising management team on communication issues, strategies and usage of communication platforms;
    • Planning and supervising implementation of information dissemination programs, public relations and open Government sessions;
    • Planning and supervising public education programmes and dialogue sessions, press briefings and publications in available fora;
    • Carrying out risk assessments, developing and implementing crisis communication management strategies;
    • Assuring quality of content for media and public dissemination;
    • Designing mechanisms for public information management and requirements;
    • Supervising the production of Information, Education and Communication materials (newsletters, brochures, etc.) to raise awareness of the Institutional programmes;
    • Preparing and submitting work plans, budgets and performance reports for the Department to the relevant authorities;
    • Supervising and appraising staff;
    • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications or requirements:

  • Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication; or Journalism; or Communication Studies; or Public Relations; plus a Masters Degree in Journalism and Multimedia; or Strategic and Corporate Communication; or in any of the above fields from a recognized University/Institution. Applicants must have a qualification from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR).

Experience needed:

  • Applicants should have a minimum of six (6) years relevant working experience, three (3) of which should have been served at the level of Senior Communications Officer in Government.

1.1  Mandatory Instructions to Applicants: -

  3. c)Each attachment must not exceed a limit of 1MB and only portable documents format (PDF) is allowed.
  4. d)Print an Extract of PS Form 3 (2008) and obtain recommendation from the Responsible Officer.  Scan the recommendation together with the rest of the documents and submit online.
  5. e)Those who fail to get a recommendation should proceed and submit and also indicate a reason on their application as to why they were not recommended.

  4. d)Short listed Applicants should ensure that their Staff Performance Appraisals for the last three (3) Financial Years, 2022/2023, 2023/2024,2024/2025 are submitted to the Commission before the date of Oral Interviews.
