Job Overview:
Responsible to plan, develop, coordinate and lead all preservation & maintenance requirements during the construction, commissioning and start-up phases on the Tilenga Project in Uganda. Responsible for plant preservation and maintenance activities, record keeping, and adherence to policies and procedures. Reports to the Commissioning Manager.
Responsibilities
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Coordinates with the Commissioning Manager in developing and implementing an overall preservation and maintenance program for the equipment under his responsibility.
- Review and update the Preservation Plan for the project as required.
- Reviews the vendor requirements for preservation and maintenance.
- Identifies the preservation requirements for each piece of equipment on the project.
- Ensures the preservation requirements are incorporated into the Preservation Plan.
- Collaborates with the PMT, Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Materials Management, Construction and Commissioning to ensure no gaps are overlooked with regards to maintaining preservation from the time equipment is purchased to the time equipment care, custody and control is passed to the Client.
- Responsible to verify equipment vendor’s requirements for maintenance and to ensure the requirements for prevention does not breach vendor warranty requirements.
- Collaborates with the Systems Completion Manager to ensure the preservation & maintenance requirements are loaded into the ICAPS database appropriately for site execution.
- Collaborates with the Systems Completion team to ensure the preservation & maintenance requirements are recorded and captured in the Hand Over Packages.
- Develops a preservation & maintenance team comprised of multi discipline personnel that will perform and maintain all preservation & maintenance activity requirements at Site from receipt of equipment until Hand Over to Client.
- Performs and supervises the analysis of repair orders relative to craft resources, materials, tools and methods required.
- Responsible for the quality of all work performed in the preservation & maintenance team.
- Responsible to coordinate the safe and effective utilization of all materials, equipment and personnel assigned to the preservation & maintenance team.
- Evaluates performance of all personnel assigned to his area.
- Work collaboratively within the Project team and with Client to maintain positive relationships
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications and Education:
- Possess a technical diploma or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Must have a minimal of 5 years’ experience on EPC projects in a supervisory position or higher within an organisation (contractor or owner) as a preservation lead/coordinator.
- Have preservation & maintenance experience on at least 3 major EPC projects in the refinery, oil and gas industry.
- Demonstrate a broad technical knowledge of construction, commissioning and completion activities.
- Be able to read and understand various types of documents, such as P&ID’s, SLD’s, Isometrics, GA’s, exploded views, and Vendor O&M manuals.
- Specific in-depth experience in machine shop operation or repair of major equipment.
- Knowledge of planning and scheduling is essential.
- Knowledge of Systems Completion Database is desirable.
- Familiarisation with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is a plus.
- Able to effectively communicate technical solutions and concepts to other engineers and non-engineers.
- Must have good computer software skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as a minimum.
- Must have good Presentation skills for meetings with Project Management and Client.
- Proficiency in English, Multi-Language skills a plus.
