Job Summary

A Physiotherapist is a Medical Personnel trained in carrying out rehabilitative activities to restore functionality of impaired body parts.

Specific Additional Responsibilities

• Providing rehabilitative services to patients
• Advising on specifications for physiotherapy appliances
• Training patients on the use of physiotherapy methods and appliances
• Organising and conducting physiotherapy outreach services
• Ensuring that equipment is secure, functional and are well maintained
• Ensuring quality assurance in physiotherapy services
• Requisitioning for supplies necessary for physiotherapy activities
• Participating in CPDs at both departmental and hospital level
• Teaching of students and junior staff whenever necessary
• Participating in research whenever required to
• Compiling and submitting relevant periodic reports as may be required
• Adhering to professional Code of conduct at all times in the execution of his/her duties
• Any other duty that may be assigned by accredited supervisors

Qualifications:

• Diploma in Physiotherapy from a recognised institution
• He/she should be fully registered with the Allied Professionals’ Body.

Reports to:

Head of Physiotherapy Unit? Orthopaedic Surgeon? Medical Director?

Responsible for:

• Nurses in the unit
• Physiotherapy Assistants
• Support Staff
