Job Title:  Online Newspaper Intern (2 No Experience Jobs)

Organisation: Raising Gabdho Foundation (RGF)

Duty Station: Remote / Kampala (Hybrid if needed)

Duration: 3 months (voluntary placement)

Start Date: until filled

Reporting to: Team Lead

Stipend: Unpaid, with a small contribution towards meals

Our online newspaper platform seeks to highlight local voices, tell untold stories, and promote community-driven solutions on topics such as clean energy, refugee livelihoods, education, and resilience.

 

Job Summary:   We are revitalising RGF’s online newspaper to become a trusted, people- centred digital outlet. We are seeking two passionate, detail-oriented, and purpose-driven interns to support editorial work, article development, and digital publishing. This opportunity is ideal for aspiring journalists, writers, and content creators who want to build experience in non-profit media and socially relevant storytelling.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research and draft community-focused articles, blog posts, and human interest stories.
  • Conduct interviews with project participants, partners, and beneficiaries.
  • Edit and proofread written submissions to meet publishing standards.
  • Assist with layout and content uploads to the online platform.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to align newspaper content with RGF campaigns and radio programming.
  • Track engagement and gather feedback to inform improvements.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Recent graduate or awaiting graduation in journalism, communications, development studies, or a related field.
  • Passionate about community stories and development-focused media.
  • Strong writing, editing, and research skills.
  • Comfortable working independently and remotely with guidance.
  • Basic familiarity with blogging platforms or digital publishing tools is an advantage (e.g., WordPress, Canva).
