Applicants should be Ugandans holding; EITHER (i) An Honors Bachelor of Science Degree in Meteorology; or Atmospheric Science from a recognized University/Institution. OR (i) An Honors Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics; or Mathematics; or Statistics; or Hydrology; or Computer Science; or Agriculture plus a Post-Graduate Diploma in Meteorology from a recognized University/Institution.

Working Experience

Duties

The incumbent will be responsible to the Senior Meteorologist for performing the following duties:-

  • Analyzing meteorological data and preparing statistical summaries for Agro Meteorology, Climatology and Hydrometeorology;
  • Publishing bulletins for Agro Meteorology, Climatology and Hydrometeorology;
  • Undertaking research;
  • Analyzing surface and upper air charts, tephigrams, satellite and radar products;
  • Studying and assimilating weather information including surface data and preparing forecasts;
  • Developing computer programs for data management and forecasting;
  • Validating and updating the main data base and archiving digitized data;
  • Analyzing meteorological products for users;
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
