About Organisation:
The Center for Health, Human Rights and Development (CEHURD) is a mainstream legal and human rights indigenous organization established 15 years ago to pioneer the justiciability of the right to health in Uganda and East Africa region. CEHURD advances social justice in health by addressing the social injustices, inequalities and health rights violations faced within the health system and other sectors which impact health outcomes for women, girls and other vulnerable populations.
Job Summary: Over time, CEHURD has implemented media fellowships to strengthen journalists’ capacity to report accurately, progressively, and responsibly on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), gender equality, and broader health rights issues in Uganda. These fellowships aim to cultivate a network of journalists who can deliver reliable, relevant, and impactful information, contributing to informed public discourse and advocacy both nationally and beyond.
Through this program, journalists will be equipped with practical skills, knowledge, and tools to enhance the quality and impact of their reporting. It will also foster collaboration with the media fraternity and the use of frameworks like the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) for evidence-based advocacy, and builds competencies in investigative journalism, strategic communication, and gender-responsive reporting, ultimately supporting a more enabling environment for SRHR, especially for women and girls.
