JOB DETAILS:

Our client - a leading retailer providing a wide range of power tools, hand tools, and related hardware products to customers across Uganda, with reliable delivery and dedicated customer support, is hiring! The Mechanical Technician at the organisation is a skilled professional responsible for inspecting, analyzing, troubleshooting, repairing, installing, replacing, and servicing the organisation systems, equipment, and tools. This role ensures optimal functionality of products, provides technical support, and maintains high customer satisfaction through efficient and effective service delivery

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

● Inspect, analyze, and troubleshoot the organisation tools, systems, and equipment to diagnose faults and identify necessary repairs.

● Read repair manuals and schematics, and liaise with other technical professionals for complex issues.

● Run diagnostic tests and interpret results to make effective recommendations for repairs or maintenance.

● Write reports on completed jobs, adhere to safety regulations, and develop preventative maintenance plans for common issues.

● Source and manage replacement parts inventory, ensuring availability for timely repairs.

● Repair or replace faulty equipment components accurately and efficiently.

● Fabricate any necessary components or parts required for repairs

● Provide accurate time and material cost estimates to customers before commencing any job.

● Stay abreast of advancements in mechanical and tool technology, attending workshops and training as required to enhance skills.

● Communicate effectively with customers, explaining problems simply and clearly.

● Multitask and liaise with professionals in different fields to ensure comprehensive service.

● Follow all health and safety regulations meticulously.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

● Minimum of an Ordinary Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.

● A relevant Diploma, professional certification, or license is an added advantage.

● Proven experience as a technician, preferably with power tools, hardware, welding machines, grinders, generators, water pumps, compressors or industrial equipment is required.

● A valid driver's/rider’s license is an added advantage.

● Proficiency in MS Office.

● Ability to understand verbal and written instructions effectively.

● Excellent mathematical and problem-solving skills.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)

● First-time fix rate.

● Customer satisfaction with repair services.

● Meeting repair targets and jobs completed.

● Service Delivery Metrics (e.g., time taken to fix machines, number of machines fixed in a period), Invoice to completed job percentage.

● Reduction in repeat visits by the client for the same issue.
