Job Summary:

The MEAL graduate trainee will support the MEAL function by strengthening routine monitoring, data management, accountability tracking, and reporting processes across DCA West Nile   project portfolio. The trainee will provide structured support to ensure data accuracy, timely updates, and consistent follow-up across allocated projects, particularly those requiring dedicated routine monitoring support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support routine data entry, cleaning, verification, and consolidation across beneficiary and accountability databases.
  • Maintain updated digital and physical records of monitoring data.
  • Conduct regular data quality checks to ensure completeness, consistency, and accuracy.
  • Support preparation of datasets for internal and donor reporting.
  • Assist in maintaining organized and secure MEAL filing systems (both electronic and hard copy).
  • Assist in tracking progress against approved indicators and monitoring plans.
  • Support preparation of monitoring tools and data collection templates.
  • Participate in field monitoring visits where required and support documentation of findings.
  • Support activity tracking against approved work plans while ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Support management of feedback and complaints mechanisms by logging, categorizing, and tracking feedback received from beneficiaries and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to periodic accountability summaries and learning briefs.
  • Assist in drafting sections of reports related to monitoring data and indicator performance.
  • Support documentation of success stories, lessons learned, and best practices.
  • Assist in organizing documentation required for audits, reviews, and evaluations.
  • Support internal coordination between program and MEAL teams for data submissions.
  • Support basic data analysis and visualization for internal reflection and learning.
  • Engage in mentorship and professional development activities as guided by the MEAL Coordinator.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Economics or a related field (should have graduated only within the last 2 years).
  • Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and basic data management tools.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Basic understanding of MEAL concepts is an added advantage.
