Description

TITLE: Math Catch-Up Club Consultant

LOCATION: Worldwide

CONTRACT LENGTH: 3-4 month Consultancy

REQUIREMENT:

Save the Children is looking for a consultant to develop a suite of training and guidance materials for the math component of its Catch-Up Clubs program. Catch-Up Clubs are mainly community-based extra-curricular learning opportunities that provide revision in foundational skills for children in the upper primary grades. They take place over a compressed time period and build on the learning methodologies of Pratham’s Teach at the Right Level (TaRL) approach and elements of Save the Children’s Literacy and Numeracy Boost programs.

Under the guidance of the Catch-Up Club technical group, and the Safe Back to School Task Team, the consultant will undertake the following:

1. Review existing materials for the reading component of Catch-Up Clubs, and information on the ASER / Pratham TaRL approach for Math, generally, as needed.

2. Consult with Save the Children staff with experience designing, training and delivering reading Catch-Up Clubs, including experts in community case management and cash and voucher assistance.

3. Consult with Save the Children staff and review design notes on incorporating Math apps into the math version of Catch-Up Clubs.

4. Create a manual for math Catch-Up Clubs that provides guidance for designing two versions of the math Catch-Up Club program: (1) a paper-based club; (2) a math app-based club.

5. Create a facilitator training manual with guidance on facilitating both versions of the Math Catch-Up Clubs.

6. If needed, create a supplement to the facilitator coaching guidance regarding coaching math clubs that are using a math app.

7. Design and lead a comment and review process to receive and integrate feedback from technical advisors into the final versions of the materials.
