Role Description

 

 

The Loans Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Kampala, responsible for managing the end-to-end loan process for personal, business, and mortgage clients. Day-to-day tasks include assessing loan applications, verifying documentation, conducting credit and risk evaluations, and making underwriting recommendations in line with company policies. The role involves originating new loans by engaging with prospective clients, explaining loan products, and guiding applicants through requirements and timelines. The Loans Officer will maintain regular communication with clients, provide high-quality customer service, respond to inquiries, and support clients through disbursement and repayment. Additional responsibilities include maintaining accurate records, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards, and collaborating with internal teams to improve loan processes and client experience.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of loan products and processes, with practical experience in a Loans Officer or similar lending role.
  • Solid understanding of Finance principles, including credit analysis, risk assessment, and basic accounting.
  • Experience in Underwriting, including evaluating borrower eligibility, reviewing documentation, and making informed approval recommendations.
  • Demonstrated Customer Service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, manage client expectations, and build long-term relationships.
  • Proven ability in Loan Origination, including identifying prospects, explaining loan options, and successfully closing applications.
  • Diploma or degree in Finance, Banking, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with standard office and financial software.
  • Integrity, reliability, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, target-driven environment while adhering to regulatory and ethical standards.
