Job Summary
The Tujijenge Financial Service Loan Officer’s role is to identify, form groups, and train members to build strong groups. A Loan Officer will work on set targets from the Supervisor, and has the responsibility to monitor the development of the groups, including loan repayment activities. It is the responsibility of the Loan Officer to ensure that the groups are making 100% repayment on their scheduled date. The Loan Officer will take full responsibility to assist groups/ individuals in their management, planning and implementation of group functions, including accurate and timely record keeping. To upgrade groups constantly, the group Executive Committee and the group members will receive training from the Loan Officer.

Job Description/Requirements

DUTY STATION: BUSIA, NAMAYINGO, SOROTI, MBALE AND BUKEDEA
JOB SUMMARY:

The Loan Officer will take full responsibility to assist groups/ individuals in their management, planning and implementation of group functions, including accurate and timely record keeping. To upgrade groups constantly, the group Executive Committee and the group members will receive training from the Loan Officer.
KEY RESULT AREAS
1. Client Prospecting and Selection
- Identify communities and potential members to be targeted by the program
- Provide the Individuals/ group Executive Committee and members basic training on the Tujijenge methodology, record keeping, group organisation and business planning.
- Continuously train the Executive Committee on their roles in managing groups.
- Support training of new clients when the need arises.
- Give recommendations on necessary training requirements and offer training when the need arises.
2. Loan Appraisal, Documentation and Disbursement
- Analyse client financial status, credit, and carry out property evaluation to determine their feasibility to grant them loans.
- Submit the files and participate in the branch credit committees to review members’ businesses and advise. On loan amounts before approval of loans,
- Assist in evaluating the credit risk of potential members before loan approval.
- Ensure submission of accurate and precise loan requests for disbursements.
- Ensure up-to-dateness of group & individual records, documents, and maintain proper record keeping
3. Loan monitoring and repayment enforcement
- Monitor Tujijenge’s groups and individual clients and ensure full loan repayments are made on time.
- Facilitate weekly/bi-weekly/monthly group meetings by attending and ensuring Members' attendance and savings are 100%
- Fill out the weekly/biweekly/monthly group reports in an accurate and timely manner.
- Cooperate with other departments by fulfilling the required reports and status of groups and individuals under the Loan Officer's supervision.
- Assist in transferring and transactions of group funds if the need arises.
4. Portfolio Management and measuring
- Responsible for submitting accurate and practical loan requests for all groups under the Loan Officer’s management.
- Ensure groups under your cluster are managed effectively with a quality PAR of 8% 1 day, this should be consistently every week.
- Monitor your monthly projections based on the targets to realise growth in your cluster, and you should promote all Tujijenge Products.
- Provide feedback and report immediately all groups’ problems to the Supervisor.
5. Delinquency Management
- Develop and maintain a clean loan portfolio with a PAR of 1 day, not less than 8%.
- Provide leadership in recoveries within your clusters by being accountable for the client loan application process, analysis, and subsequent decisions thereof. This includes monitoring of loan performance, the KYC procedure of a client, loan collateral, and recovery procedures that may arise due to poor loan management
- Advise and assist group members in loan recovery activities.
6. Customer Relationship Management
- Communicate all new developments and clarify any issues that are not clear to all clients every time you visit.
- Attend to their weekly/ bi-weekly meetings and offer guidance in case of deviation.
- Ensure client phone calls are responded to and feedback given.
- Observe the ten commandments/rules of customer care.
7. Performance Management
- Loan Officer shall at all times ensure his/her performance meets the pre-determined set targets agreed upon in the appraisal tool.
- Must create a balance in scores by attaining above 50% in each section of the agreed targets in the appraisal tool.
8. Compliance with Tujijenge’s Lending policies and procedures.
- Ensure all lending activities, right from client identification to daily monitoring of client loan performance, are in line with the agreed terms and conditions of the loan and as per the set credit policy and procedures for Tujijenge Financial Services to guarantee a quality loan portfolio for the institution.
- Ensure clients' payments are paid to Tujijenge through its platforms, i.e. through its bank accounts, agency banking and collection lines. Cash handling is strictly prohibited
- In case of recoveries, this should be done with the consent of the supervisor and a must for a field receipt to be issued to the client from which recovery has been done. A copy of the receipt book will then be presented to the supervisor for audit purposes
9. Marketing of Tujijenge products
- Ensure you're knowledgeable about the products you intend to market
- Market Tujijenge products to its existing and potential clients to derive sales.
- Sale of inventory of Solar, cook stoves, water purifiers, phones and any other items at Tujijenge’s recommended prices, including inflated costs, isn’t accepted.
- Ensure timely delivery of client orders
- Offer after-sales service to existing clients to be able to attract more through their referrals
- Follow up with scheduled appointments with potential clients to avoid disappointments and frustrations.
10. Reporting
- Ensure timely submission of daily monitoring reports
- Prepare and submit to your supervisor daily activity reports indicating performance progress for clients, ie compliant & non-compliant loans repayment, any feedback given by clients, challenges encountered, and pave the way forward to address them.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Diploma in any field of Business-related related preferably Accounting, Marketing, Education or any other relevant courses.
- Two principal passes at A-level and credits in Maths and English at O-level
- A minimum of 2 years’ work experience in the related field is an added advantage
