About Organisation:
Yield Harvest Uganda (YHU) is a youth-focused development organization committed to promoting sustainable livelihoods and economic empowerment among vulnerable communities. YHU is implementing a Youth Livelihoods & Decent Work project in Kyangwali Refugee Settlement aimed at supporting refugee and host community youth to access skills, finance, and market opportunities.
Job Summary: YHU is seeking a qualified and result oriented, self-driven Livelihoods Officer to lead the field implementation of youth livelihood interventions in the settlement. The position will coordinate activities that strengthen youth economic empowerment through Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSILAs), financial literacy training, enterprise development, climate-smart agriculture, youth agri-services, and market linkages. The role will also supervise Community-Based Trainers and technical facilitators to ensure quality training, mentorship, and inclusive participation of vulnerable youth, particularly adolescent girls and young women.
The Livelihoods Officer will support beneficiary identification, supervise field teams, coordinate with local leaders, government stakeholders and private sector partners, and ensure timely monitoring, reporting, and documentation of project activities and results.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Economics, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience implementing livelihood or youth employment programmes is required.
- Experience working in refugee settlements, supervising field teams, and supporting enterprise development or agricultural value chains and VSLAs is essential.
- The successful candidate must demonstrate strong facilitation, coordination, and stakeholder engagement skills, as well as high integrity and commitment to safeguarding standards.
- The candidate should be ready to reside in Kyangwali and has ability to ride a motor cycle with a valid permit.
