Eirene Suisse is a Swiss non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to international cooperation, human rights promotion, and non-violent conflict resolution. Founded on the core value of peaceful coexistence, the organization operates by dispatching highly qualified professional volunteers to work directly with local partner organizations in fragile or unstable regions.

Job Summary: As an international Peace Worker you will provide parallel support to our multiple Sudanese partner organisations operating from Uganda/ the Sudanese Diaspora in Uganda in the fields of Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (PMEL) as well as Conflict Transformation Strategy.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • You support partner organizations establishing PMEL systems that enable evidence-based adaptation and strengthen learning capacities: such as the partners’ reflection on people-driven nonviolent change processes, systematic assessment of outcomes and the implementation of planning, monitoring, evaluation and learning tools.
  • You support the partner organisations in their financial and narrative reporting as well as regular communication with the CPS country coordination and the KURVE Wustrow main office.
  • You identify synergies between partners and facilitate joint strategizing in the program
  • You support partner organizations in the fields of psycho-social resilience, countering hate speech through media, legal documentation and creative storytelling approaches to strengthen strategic coherence and conflict sensitivity of their conflict transformation work
  • Depending on needs of the partner organisations and skills and interests of the applicant other working areas may be supported e.g.:
  • Coordinating and supporting capacity development in nonviolent conflict transformation and PMEL
  • Engagement in the partner organisations’ day-to-day operational work
  • Supporting conflict- and security analysis of the CPS-coordinator, collaboration with other Peace Workers

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A relevant university degree (e.g. peace and conflict studies, social sciences or education) or completed training with several years of professional experience in a field of work relevant to the CPS.
  • Several years of practical experience in working with NGOs, preferably in intercultural teams and/or abroad.
  • Relevant further training in the field of civil, non-violent conflict transformation and sound knowledge in this area.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with conflict, which can be used respectfully and sensitively in an intercultural context.
  • The ability to self-reflect and a high degree of learning and adaptability.
  • Personal responsibility, strong planning and implementation skills, the ability to deal with complex situations and tolerance towards unclear situations.
  • Excellent English language skills
  • Arabic language skills are desirable, at least willingness to learn Sudanese Arabic
  • Context experience Sudan is an advantage
  • Experience in trauma-sensitivity approaches is an advantage
