JOB DETAILS:
A warm, professional, and highly adaptable House Manager is sought for a private English household with a 1-year-old baby. The role is live-in and includes traveling with the family domestically and internationally. The ideal candidate will be experienced in managing households for young families, detail-oriented, child-aware, and able to run a home smoothly whether stationary or in transit.
This is a hands-on, dynamic role that requires discretion, flexibility, and a proactive approach to ensure the family’s home(s) are well-managed, secure, and operating to the highest standard—both in the UG and abroad.
Key Responsibilities:
Household Management:
- Oversee and maintain the smooth day-to-day running of the home
- Source, schedule, and supervise tradespeople and contractors
- Maintain household inventories, order supplies, and ensure all areas are well-stocked and organized
- Coordinate home security, smart systems, and maintenance logs
- Manage domestic budgets, expenses, and petty cash
- Prepare the home ahead of family’s arrival or travel
- Oversee laundry, wardrobe care, and packing/unpacking for the family
- Prepare home meals for the family
- Ensure discretion and confidentiality at all times
- Liaise with the employer to understand and fulfill preferences and standards
- Ensure home security systems are functioning and protocols are followed
- Ensure the home is clean all the time.
Travel Support:
- Accompany the family on domestic and international trips
- Arrange logistics for travel (luggage, accommodation setups, baby essentials)
- Ensure temporary homes or rentals are prepped, clean, and comfortable
- Maintain routines and continuity of service while away from the main residence
- Be available to troubleshoot and adapt quickly to different travel environments
Child-Aware Support:
- Understand and respect the baby’s routine (naps, feeding, playtimes)
- Collaborate closely with the nanny to ensure a child-safe, calm environment
- Childcare support (e.g., monitor baby during travel transitions)
- Maintain and restock nursery, baby care items, and child-friendly spaces in all locations
- Supervise and help baby with homework
Family & Guest Service:
- Greet and host guests warmly and professionally
- Assist with informal family meals, table settings, and light cooking or coordination with chefs
- Support parents with errands, personal admin, and appointments as required
- Uphold the family's privacy and confidentiality at all times
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a similar live-in or travel-based private household role
- Prior experience in a household with young children or infants
- Genuine warmth, flexibility, and a child-friendly, can-do attitude
- Highly organized, efficient, and adaptable to fast-changing environments
- Willing and able to travel frequently, sometimes at short notice
- Full, clean driving license (essential)
- Eligible to travel internationally
- Non-smoker preferred
- Previous experience working for expatriates will be an added advantage.
