About Organisation:
East African Medical Vitals Limited (EAMVL) is setting up a state-of-the-art medical consumables manufacturing plant in Namanve Industrial Park, with the aim of supplying the East African and COMESA markets with affordable and good quality sundries that include medical gloves and syringes.
Job Summary: East African Medical Vitals Ltd is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Manufacturing & Operations to join its Executive Team. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving manufacturing excellence, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement across the organization. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring high-quality product delivery, cost optimization, and alignment of manufacturing operations with business objectives.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic & Operational Leadership
- Lead end-to-end manufacturing operations including Production, Sterilization, Packing, and Engineering & Projects.
- Develop and implement manufacturing strategies aligned with company goals.
- Collaborate with the Managing Director on business strategy, operational planning, and execution.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence across all functions.
Financial & Cost Management
- Manage departmental budgets and oversee cost control initiatives.
- Optimize plant efficiency, reduce downtime, and ensure effective capacity utilization.
- Oversee inventory management and production planning to meet cost, quality, and delivery targets.
- Prepare annual manufacturing budgets, forecasts, and capital expenditure proposals.
Regulatory Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and cGMP practices.
- Lead audit processes and act as the primary representative during inspections.
- Promote a strong culture of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators and industry partners.
- Provide regular updates and reports to the Managing Director and shareholders.
Leadership & People Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams across manufacturing functions.
- Oversee recruitment, training, and performance management processes.
- Establish KPIs and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Polymer, Chemical, Mechanical, or Textile), Bio Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Postgraduate qualification in Management is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in plant or senior management roles within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and cGMP standards.
- Membership in a relevant professional body is an added advantage.
