Field Assistant at South Sudanese Refugee Association (SSURA)

SSURA is a registered non-profit, community-based refugee-led organization operating in Anua, Koboko, and Yumbe. Founded in September 2016, SSURA focuses on psychosocial wellbeing, mental health, reconciliation, peaceful co-existence, economic self-reliance, and legal protection advocacy for refugees and host communities.

About the Job:
The Field Assistant will support program implementation in Yumbe, coordinating field activities, engaging with communities, and assisting in data collection and reporting. The role ensures smooth field operations and effective project delivery.

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Support Field Activities: Assist in executing project activities effectively and on time.
  2. Community Mobilization: Raise awareness and encourage community participation.
  3. Field Monitoring: Conduct site visits to observe progress and gather beneficiary feedback.
  4. Data Collection and Reporting: Collect accurate data and submit timely reports.
  5. Liaison Role: Serve as a point of contact between SSURA and community stakeholders.
  6. Coordination: Organize trainings, meetings, and distributions.
  7. Issue Reporting: Monitor and report field challenges impacting project delivery.
  8. Accountability: Promote transparency and proper resource handling.
  9. Logistical Support: Assist with material preparation and transportation.
  10. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of activities and distributions.

Job Holder Entry Requirements:

  • Education: Diploma in Agriculture, Social Sciences, Social Work, Development Studies, Community Development, Peace and Conflict Studies, or related fields. A Bachelor’s degree is an added advantage.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
    • Experience in community mobilization and outreach.
    • Motorbike riding skills (added advantage).
    • Fluency in English and local languages.
    • Strong organizational, writing, and reporting skills.
    • Knowledge of NGO operations and humanitarian response (added advantage).
  • Personal Attributes: Team player, flexible, trustworthy, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
