Description

The Drafts lady is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and maintaining accurate engineering drawings, technical designs, specifications, and project documentation to support the planning, execution, commissioning, and maintenance of engineering projects. The role ensures that all drawings and documentation comply with engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational procedures while providing technical drafting support to engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities or duties
- Prepare, revise, and maintain engineering drawings, layouts, schematics, and technical documentation using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
- Develop technical specifications, bills of quantities, and supporting documentation for engineering projects.
- Ensure engineering drawings and documentation comply with applicable engineering standards, codes, regulations, and company procedures.
- Maintain accurate drawing registers, document control systems, and engineering records.
- Collaborate with engineers, project teams, contractors, and other stakeholders to incorporate design changes and project requirements into engineering documentation.
- Support project planning, implementation, commissioning, and maintenance by providing timely and accurate technical drawings and documentation.
- Participate in design reviews and implement approved revisions to engineering drawings and technical documents.
- Ensure proper archiving and version control of engineering drawings and project documentation.
Minimum Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Drafting Technology, or a related engineering discipline.
Experience needed
- Minimum of 2–3 years' experience in engineering drafting, technical documentation, or CAD design.
- Experience supporting engineering or construction projects.
- Practical experience using CAD software and document management systems.
- Experience preparing technical specifications and engineering documentation is an added advantage.
Technical Competencies
- Computer-Aided Design (CAD) proficiency.
- Engineering drawing interpretation and preparation.
- Technical documentation and document control.
- Knowledge of engineering standards, codes, and regulations.
- Attention to detail and quality assurance.
- Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems.
Working Environment
The role is primarily office-based within an engineering or project environment, with regular use of computer aided design software and document management systems. The incumbent will work closely with engineers, project managers, contractors, and other technical personnel and may be required to visit project or construction sites to verify designs, collect field information, or support project implementation. The role requires prolonged computer use, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple assignments while meeting project deadlines. Compliance with Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) requirements is expected at all times, particularly during site visits.
