Role Overview:
The District Engineer heads the Works Department, overseeing infrastructure development, maintenance, and technical services such as roads, buildings, and water systems in the district.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, design, and supervise infrastructure projects, including roads, buildings, and water systems.
  • Prepare technical specifications, budgets, and bills of quantities for district projects.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of contractors and infrastructure projects.
  • Maintain district assets, such as roads and public buildings, through regular repairs and upgrades.
  • Advise the District Council on technical matters related to infrastructure development.
  • Supervise and mentor technical staff in the Works Department.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • A Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is an added advantage.
  • Must be registered with the Engineers Registration Board with a valid practicing license.
  • At least 9 years of experience in civil engineering, with 3 years at a senior level in a public or private organization.
