Our client is a global leader in the telecommunications industry, offering affordable and high-quality mobile services to customers across the globe. Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to join the leadership team in Uganda.
ROLE SUMMARY:
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will provide visionary leadership and strategic direction to drive the growth, profitability, and operational excellence of our telecom company. As the highest-ranking executive, the CEO will oversee all aspects of the business, including network expansion, customer experience, regulatory compliance, digital transformation, and market competitiveness.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the company’s long-term vision, mission, and business strategy to enhance market position and shareholder value.
- Financial & Operational Performance: Ensure sustainable revenue growth, cost optimization, and profitability while maintaining high service quality.
- Technology & Innovation: Drive digital transformation, 5G/6G deployment, IoT, and next-gen telecom solutions to stay ahead in a competitive landscape.
- Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with investors, regulators, partners, and government bodies to foster business growth and compliance.
- Customer-Centric Approach: Enhance customer satisfaction through superior service delivery, innovative products, and seamless connectivity solutions.
- Talent & Culture: Attract, develop, and retain top talent while fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and high performance.
- Risk & Compliance: Ensure adherence to telecom regulations, cybersecurity standards, and corporate governance best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- At least 10-12 years of senior management is crucial. This experience should be in Digital Financial Services, or mobile money, telecommunications of broader Fintech services.
- at least 5 years experience managing a Profit and Loss business or within a business, budgeting and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
- Demonstrated history of starting up or setting up a business or department in Digital financial services in a competitive market. This includes business growth, new partner management, operational efficiency and achieving financial targets.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with regulators regarding financial services.
- Ability to build, lead and motivate a high performing team of people at different levels
- Stakeholder management: capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders including regulators, government, partners and investors.
- Demonstrated evidence of innovation and product development to meet the evolving customer needs and stay competitive.
- Previous CEO of a Fintech / Digital financial services company with more than 20 employees for at least 3-5 years. Or
- Head of Business unit (likely within a large organization), for at least 3-5 years managing a team of more than 20 people in that department - PnL & budgeting experience. unit should be in Digital financial Services.
