Description

Qualifications and Experience
1. A Bachelor’s Degree in Library and information Science or a related field from a recognized institution of higher learning.
2. Should have graduated not more than five years ago
3. Experience in Library of related field will be an added advantage.
4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, especially in relation to library technologies.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to work collaboratively with academic staff, students, the ICT unit, and other stakeholders.
7. Should be a committed and practicing Christian.
Key responsibilities:
1. Manage the Short loan and reserve section of the Humanities, Business and Social Sciences Section of the Hamu Mukasa Library.
2. Provide customer service at the circulation desk, including check-in and check-out of library materials.
3. Register new library users and update user records.
4. Assist in managing loans, renewals, reservations, and overdue materials.
5. Handle general inquiries and refer complex information needs to other librarians.
6. Assist in orientation of users to library services, facilities, and policies.
7. Provide basic assistance with information searching, catalogue use, and access to electronic resources.
8. Offer basic guidance on citation tools and referencing styles.
9. Shelve, shelf-read, and maintain order in library collections.
10. Support processing of new materials, movement of reserved and outdated items.
11. Report missing, damaged, or misplaced materials.
12. Assist in compiling reports and usage data for the Circulation Services section.
13. Participate in library meetings and events.
