Job Summary
The responsibilities include maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records for sales, purchases, payroll, and tracking revenues from various products like goat milk and organic fertilizer. Prepare annual and quarterly budgets, monitor their performance, and advise on cost-saving opportunities. Manage daily cash flow to ensure financial obligations are met, oversee payments, and timely collection of receivables. Track inventory of raw materials and finished products, maintain a register of farm assets, and assist in valuing biological assets. Process employee payroll and statutory compliance, prepare financial reports, support audit processes, and manage grant and donor funds. Analyze production costs, recommend pricing strategies, conduct feasibility studies for business expansion, advise on investment decisions, and monitor financial health indicators. Develop internal control systems and identify and mitigate financial risks.

Roles of an Accountant for Kanyes Dairy Farm
1. Financial Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records (sales, purchases, payroll, etc.).
- Track revenues from goat milk, lotion, soap, and organic fertilizer.
- Record expenses such as animal feed, farm equipment, salaries, and marketing.
2. Budget Preparation and Monitoring
- Prepare annual and quarterly budgets.
- Monitor budget performance and report any variances.
- Advise management on cost-saving opportunities.
3. Cash Flow Management
- Monitor daily cash flow to ensure the farm meets its financial obligations.
- Manage payments to suppliers, employees, and service providers.
- Ensure timely collection of receivables from distributors or retail outlets.
4. Inventory and Asset Management
- Track inventory of raw materials (goat milk, oils, packaging, etc.) and finished products.
- Maintain a register of farm assets including livestock, machinery, and equipment.
- Assist in valuing biological assets (e.g., goats for milk production).
5. Payroll and Statutory Compliance
- Process employee salaries and allowances.
- File and remit statutory deductions such as NSSF, PAYE, and local taxes.
- Ensure compliance with Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) requirements.
6. Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

- Recommend pricing strategies that align with market conditions and business goals.
9. Support Business Growth and Sustainability
- Conduct financial feasibility studies for expansion projects (e.g., new outlets, automation).
- Advise on investment decisions, capital acquisition, and sustainability initiatives.
