Job Description 

The Accountant will report directly to the Finance Officer in Kampala and serve as the coordinator of accounts for the Kampala chocolate business.

This includes the following responsibilities: 

  • Supervise Accounts Assistants and cashiers responsible for Latitude sourcing operations with a  specific focus on:
  • Petty cash reporting and budgets
  • Verification of accountability for cash and mobile money expenses
  • Submission and confirmation of inventory reports
  • Balancing of buyers and pre-finance for sourcing
  • Verification of stocks and dispatches
  • Coordinate documentation and payment for all supplies and materials
  • Review and confirm monthly report submissions for the office
  • Verify and approve sourcing purchase data entry through a traceability program
  • Support the implementation of digital farmer payments
  • Ensure local tax compliance
  • Manage expenses and cost control for each branch
  • Verify asset and inventory reports at each branch
  • Carry out audits and site visits to confirm inventory and accountability

Experience 

  • Fluent English
  • 3-5 years of experience in accounts department for a Ugandan registered company or entity
  • Degree in relevant Account or Finance field, progress completed towards CPA or ACCA
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office and Quickbooks
  • Positive attitude, attention to detail and good communication skills
