Role Overview

The HR Officer will be responsible for managing the day-to-day human resource operations of the hospital. This role requires a proactive individual with a sound understanding of HR practices within the healthcare sector.

Key Resposibilities

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment processes including job advertising, screening, interviewing, and onboarding of new staff.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and HR databases in compliance with data protection requirements.
  • Administer staff contracts, leave management, and attendance tracking systems.
  • Support the implementation of HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Coordinate staff performance appraisal processes and training & development programs.
  • Handle employee relations matters including grievances, disciplinary proceedings, and conflict resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with Uganda labour laws and hospital HR regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare HR reports and analytics for management decision-making.
  • Liaise with department heads on staffing needs and workforce planning.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of HR experience, preferably in a healthcare or large institutional setting.
  • Membership with the Human Resource Managers Association of Uganda (HRMAU) is an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in HR information systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
