About Organisation:
The Mbale Clinical Research Institute (MCRI) is a leading medical research organization based in Eastern Uganda. Founded in 2008 as a small research unit within Mbale Regional Referral Hospital, it has grown into a major hub for clinical trials and evidence-based clinical guidelines in East Africa.
Job Summary: Policy Development & Compliance: The HRM develops and updates HR policies and staff handbooks, ensuring alignment with national labor laws and donor regulations. They ensure staff adhere to codes of conduct and safeguarding standards. Employee Relations & Welfare: They manage grievances and disciplinary issues, promote fair treatment, and support staff welfare through psychosocial and wellness programs, building a healthy work environment. Performance Management: HRM coordinates performance appraisal systems, advises supervisors on feedback delivery, and links staff performance to rewards and development. Training & Development: They assess training needs and organize CPD programs, workshops, and mentorships to build internal capacity and professional growth. Compensation & Benefits: They design equitable salary structures, administer payroll and benefits, and ensure timely compensation in line with market standards and organisational budgets. Retention & Succession Planning: They implement strategies to retain talent, plan for leadership continuity, and address gaps in key roles as projects evolve. Organizational Culture & Communication: They promote organizational values, facilitate team-building, and maintain open communication between management and staff.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management OR Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Business Administration, Development Studies with a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management from a recognized institution.
- A certificate in Administrative Law is a must. A Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management is an added advantage.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience in Human Resource Management.
