On behalf of our client in the manufacturing sector we are looking for a competent, skilled, and experienced Weigh bridge operator to work in Mbarara.
Job Title: Weigh Bridge Operator
Reports to: Milk Processing Specialist
Location: Mbarara
Job Purpose
The overall purpose of the job is to weigh and record all incoming and exiting milk trucks supplying raw milk to the dairy plant and ensure consistent accuracy in the capture of weights and recording process.
Key Duties and responsibilities
- Responsible for capturing incoming and exit weights of all trucks supplying raw milk to the dairy plant.
- Receive and review all supporting documentation for raw milk being delivered, capture supplier information (driver name, plate number) in the system and ensure that trucks delivering raw milk to the dairy plant have complete and correct paperwork supporting the quantity and quality of raw milk being delivered daily.
- Conduct inspections of all incoming and outgoing raw milk trucks before capturing gross and tare weights to ensure that the correct weights are being captured in the system.
- Arrange and provide raw milk testing bottles to the Quality Assurance team and ensure that raw milk samples are taken for testing from each batch of raw milk being delivered to the Dairy plant;
- Review the release slip prepared by the Quality Assurance team and based on the results permit the raw milk supplier trucks to be weighed and proceed for offloading of the raw milk at the receiving site.
- Preparation of weighbridge tickets/slips and gate passes for raw milk suppliers to permit them to exit the Dairy Plant once weights have been captured, samples tested and offloading of raw milk is complete.
- Restrict entry and exit of raw milk trucks to and from the Dairy Plant’s premises according to set policies and procedures access to the weighbridge at all times.
- Periodically check for the proper function of the weighbridge, communication and computer equipment within the weighbridge office including the timely replacement of printer cartridges and printing paper to avoid any truck delays.
- Ensure proper housekeeping around the weighbridge with special attention to gaps between the weighing platform and the foundation to ensure accurate weighing.
- Oversee the periodic calibration of the weigh bridge on a quarterly basis to ensure accuracy at all times.
- Prepare a daily report on all raw milk quantities delivered to the Dairy Plant showing the gross and net weights, test results of sampling performed by the Quality Assurance team, against the supplier details (driver name, plate number);
- Comply with all Operational, Health, Safety, and Environmental (OHSE) policies and procedures of the company.
- Record all risk incidents identified during daily operations in the incidence register and report the same to the Inventory Manager and OHSE team in a timely manner; and
- Transfer knowledge to your colleagues

Knowledge, experience and qualifications required
- Diploma in any field from a reputable institution.
- Minimum of 2 years related working experience
