Background
The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) is a limited liability company incorporated in Uganda under the Companies Act. UEDCL owns the 33KV and below voltage electricity distribution networks. The company sales and distributes electricity in Uganda as per ERA License issued on 31 December 2024 covering over 135 political districts, operates a modern pole plant at Lugogo, and executes key rural electrification schemes on behalf of the Government of Uganda.

Job Purpose
To provide strategic leadership and governance of the enterprise SAP ecosystem, ensuring alignment with business objectives, operational efficiency, and digital transformation priorities.
Key Responsibilities

Define and execute SAP strategy and roadmap

Lead SAP implementations, upgrades, and integrations

Manage SAP teams, vendors, and partners

Ensure system performance, availability, and scalability

Qualifications & Experience
•
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Business Information Systems, Accounting/Finance with strong ERP specialization, or a related field.
•
A master’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Project Management, or a related field is an added advantage.
•
Professional certification in SAP or related enterprise platforms, such as SAP S/4HANA, SAP Project Management, SAP Activate, or relevant module certifications, is an added advantage.
•
Minimum of 7–10 years’ relevant work experience in SAP/ERP environments, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership or management role overseeing enterprise applications, ERP support, or digital transformation programmes.
•
Proven hands-on and supervisory experience in managing SAP landscapes, post-go-live stabilization, support operations, business process integration, change control, vendor coordination, and user adoption.
•
Strong understanding of SAP S/4HANA environments, preferably across key functional areas such as Finance (FICO), Materials Management (MM), Project Systems (PS), Plant Maintenance (PM), HCM/HR, and related interfaces.
•
Demonstrated experience in leading ERP implementation, hypercare, transition to steady-state support, release planning, upgrades, and business process optimization.
•
Strong experience in stakeholder management, including coordination with business owners, ICT teams, implementation partners, auditors, and senior management.
•
Ability to manage SAP support contracts, vendor performance, service levels, issue escalation, and knowledge transfer arrangements.
•
Proven capability to drive user training, adoption, process discipline, and organizational change management across multiple departments.
•
Good understanding of SAP governance, controls, audit readiness, security, backup/restore requirements, and business continuity for mission-critical enterprise systems.
•
Experience in managing cross-functional dependencies such as infrastructure readiness, remote support tools, bandwidth constraints, end-user devices, and service-management processes.
•
Strong analytical, leadership, planning, and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize between project delivery, operational support, and business continuity needs.
•
Excellent communication, reporting, and presentation skills, including the ability to prepare management updates, steering committee papers, and executive recommendations.
•
High level of integrity, accountability, and ability to work under pressure in a high-transaction, highly governed environment.
Added Advantage
•
Experience managing post-go-live SAP stabilization in a live operational environment.
•
Experience in a utility, telecom, banking, or other large transaction-intensive organization where ERP is central to operational and financial control.
•
Exposure to SAP rollouts, additional modules such as SuccessFactors and Ariba, and broader ERP roadmap planning.
•
Experience leading teams through skills-retention planning, cross-training, and controlled external augmentation.
