JOB SUMMARY AUTOMOTIVE SPRAY PAINTER
We are looking for a skilled Automotive Spray Painter to join our dynamic team at Wamuco Motors. In this role, you will be responsible for executing high-quality paint finishes on a variety of vehicles, ensuring precision and adherence to industry standards. Your expertise will play a vital role in enhancing the aesthetic appeal and durability of our automotive products.
Roles and Responsibilities of the Automotive Spray Painter /a motor vehicle finishers
1. Surface Preparation:
- Cleaning: Cleaning surfaces to remove dirt, grease, and other contaminants.
- Sanding: Sanding surfaces to create a smooth and uniform finish.
- Priming: Applying a primer coat to provide a base for the paint and improve adhesion.
- Masking: Using tape or other materials to protect areas that should not be painted.
2. Paint Application:
- Mixing: Mixing paints and coatings to achieve the desired color and consistency.
- Spraying: Applying paint using spray equipment, ensuring even coverage and avoiding drips or runs. Applying multiple coats: Applying primer, base coats, and clear coats as required.
- Using various spray techniques: Utilizing different spray patterns and techniques to achieve specific finishes.
3. Quality Control:
- Inspection: Inspecting painted surfaces to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
- Touch-up work: Performing touch-up work to correct imperfections and make necessary adjustments.
- Correcting defects: Addressing any defects or blemishes in the paint job.
4. Equipment Maintenance:
- Operating and maintaining spray guns and other equipment: Ensuring spray guns, compressors, and other equipment are functioning properly.
- Cleaning equipment: Cleaning and maintaining spray painting equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshooting: Identifying and addressing any issues with spray painting equipment.
5. Safety and Compliance:
- Following safety procedures: Adhering to all safety regulations and using personal protective equipment (PPE) when working.
- Proper storage and handling of materials: Ensuring paints and solvents are stored and handled properly.
- Environmental considerations: Working in a way that minimizes environmental impact.
6. Other Responsibilities:
- Communication: Communicating with team members and supervisors to ensure works are completed on time and to the required standard.
- Inventory management: Managing inventory of paint, coatings, and other supplies.
- Collaborating with others: Working effectively with other department and team members.
- Following instructions and specifications: Accurately following instructions and specifications provided by supervisors or clients.
Requirements and Qualifications.
- Certification from a recognized automotive painting program or equivalent training.
- In-depth knowledge of automotive painting techniques, materials, and safety protocols
- Ability to work with precision and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with color matching techniques and paint mixing
- At least 1-2-year proven experience working as an Automotive Spray Painter
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and Strong communication skills
- Good hand skills and co-ordination
- Ability to see subtle color differences.
- Proficient in using spray guns, paint booths, and associated equipment.
