Job Summary (Main Purpose)
The Nursing In charge is responsible for supervising the nursing staff and ensuring high-quality patient care in their assigned unit or ward. This role involves leadership, staff coordination, training, adherence to clinical protocols, and maintaining a safe and supportive environment for both patients and staff.
Main Duties/Responsibilities
- Patient Care Management. Ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care to all patients. This includes administering treatments, monitoring patient progress, and collaborating with medical teams to develop care plans. Supervise the day-to-day client centered nursing care provision in the hospital.
- Staff Supervision and Development. Lead and mentor nursing staff, fostering a supportive environment that encourages professional growth. Responsibilities encompass scheduling, performance evaluations, and facilitating continuous training.
- Operational Coordination. Oversee daily Hospital activities, ensuring efficient use of resources, adherence to protocols, and compliance with health and safety standards.
- Patient and Family Communication. Act as a liaison between patients, their families, and the healthcare team, addressing concerns and providing education about care plans and procedures.
- Quality Assurance. Draw, implement and monitor quality improvement strategies in nursing of patients at the hospital. Participate in audits, contribute to quality improvement initiatives, and uphold C-Care IMC's commitment to excellence in healthcare delivery.
- Manage and monitor nursing documentation, reports, and records.
- Coordinate shift rosters and ensure adequate staffing levels at all times, allocate and monitor duty coverage of nurses and midwives in the hospital to ensure timely and client-centered care.

Key Skills and Competencies
Qualifications
Formal education required for competence in the job
- A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Nursing/Midwifery obtained from a recognised institution of higher learning with full registration with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives council.
Experience
- A minimum of five (5) years of working experience, three (3) must have been gained from a supervisory position in a reputable heath institution.
