Location: Entebbe
DAS Handling Ltd, an independent Ground Handling service provider based at Entebbe International Airport, is recruiting a full-time Workshop Manager.
Responsibilities:
The incumbent will report directly to the Managing Director and carry out the following duties:
· Ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the workshop, including scheduling, resource allocation and quality control
· Conduct initial safety risk assessment and mitigation of identified safety hazards within the workshop
· Contact equipment manufacturers and suppliers for technical support, updates and procurement of spare parts in liaison with the Finance Manager and Procurement Managers
· Ensure that all ground support equipment (GSE) is maintained and repaired to meet operational demands and safety standards
· Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures to maximize equipment uptime and longevity
· Manage inventory levels including spare parts and tools ensuring availability for maintenance activities within the workshop
· Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support for complex maintenance issues
· Prepare and manage the workshop budget including costs for labor, spare parts and equipment
· Review and update technical documentation ie manuals and maintenance records as required
· Write and submit monthly reports and annual departmental budget to the Managing Director
Qualifications and Competencies requirements
· Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or its equivalent.
· The candidate should possess outstanding technical expertise with strong mechanical skills, excellent knowledge about hydraulics, electrical wiring, Arc and Gas welding, panel beating and other related skills
· Have computer competence and skills
· Possess strong work ethic and adept negotiation skills
· Have strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and mentor a diverse team
· Ability to consistently meet deadlines and deliver successful outcomes
· Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities
Work Experience
Applicants should have at least four (4) years of experience in a management or supervisory position with a reputable organization.
