Wamuco Motors is a private company established in 1995, specializing in the provision of vehicle repair services.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Workshop Manager, the Workshop Clerk shall supervise automotive technicians and support personnel, manage all aspects of repair and preventive maintenance, establish uniform policies and practices, keep vehicle records, monitor vehicle serviceability and safety, and ensure customer satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Quality Control, Health and Safety
- Work in collaboration with the technicians to ensure that high quality standards are adhered to.
- Participating in the Planning, organising, scheduling and assigning minor and major repairs, and preventive maintenance.
- Maintain and troubleshoot the automotive shop equipment and recommend the purchase of required equipment.
- Keep an updated inventory of the automotive shop equipment.
- Monitor the cleanliness and safety standards of the shop in addition to ensuring compliance to Government regulations about operations such as hazardous waste disposal.
- Keep accurate and up to date relevant records especially about the vehicles, customer needs and services provided according to the policy of Wamuco Motors
2. Resources Management
- Support the HR team to recruit and motivate the required number of qualified technicians.
- Give technical support to the technicians and assist them in developing their skills.
- Monitor the progress of each repair order throughout the day.
- Support the preparation and management of the annual departmental budget
- Inform the Workshop Manager about manpower overruns or shortfalls.
- Propose improvement in cost of repair or other costs associated with workshop operations
- Ensure supplies are ordered for each job.
- Report work progress and delays to the Workshop Supervisor.
3. Customer Experience Management
- Ensure that all customer vehicle related documents are processed correctly.
- Establish and maintain a customer follow-up program to confirm satisfaction with the service experience and handle their complaints within 24 hours.
- Work with the Workshop. Supervisors and Customer Service Representantive to respond to the clients’ requests for updates on the status of their jobs and keep the communication channels open to ensure information is accurate.
- Support the Workshop Manager to professionally file investigate and discuss customer complaints with the team and identify appropriate course of action.
4. Team Management
- Provide support in the conducting of regular performance reviews for all technicians in accordance with dealership guidelines.
- Identify the technicians that require on-going training and implement training opportunities to ensure their skills are improved
- Encourage career progression of the technicians.
- Maintain open and clear communication with the team
5. Any other ad-hoc duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering/Automotive or related field required.
- 3 years’ experience working in a professional automotive workshop
- Exemplary leadership skills.
- Knowledge of relevant automotive tools, equipment and procedures for troubleshooting and repairing vehicles.
- Knowledge of mechanical issues, warranties, service and general repairs
- Analytical skills with an administrative competence
