JOB DETAILS:
Introduction
This Terms of Reference (TOR) outlines the scope, objectives, deliverables, and responsibilities for hiring a Website Developer to design and develop a website for Restless Development Uganda. The website will provide an engaging user experience, boost digital presence, and meet the organisational goals.

Objectives
The primary objectives of this project are:
• Develop a fully functional, responsive, and user-friendly website.
• Ensure a visually appealing design aligned with the organisation’s brand identity.

 

 

• Integrate necessary features such as contact forms, blogs and all relevant features.

 

 

• Optimise for Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), security, and performance.
• Provide maintenance and support for a specified period.

Scope of Work
The Website Developer will be responsible for:
• Understanding organisational needs and website requirements.
• Designing wireframes and mockups for approval.
• Developing a website using appropriate technologies (HyperText Markup Language (HTML), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), JavaScript, Content Management System (CMS).
• Ensuring compatibility with various devices and browsers i.e. mobile devices, tabs and desktops.

 

 

• Implementing security features and best practices.
• Integrating third-party tools, including Analytics Tools e.g. Google Analytics, Marketing Automation Tools e.g. Mailchimp, and Social Media Integrations like Facebook, Instagram Feed, Chatbots or Live Chat (WhatsApp).
• Conducting testing and troubleshooting to ensure smooth functionality.
• Providing documentation and user training for the Restless Development communications team.
• Set up a hosting platform for Restless Development Uganda on either Hostinga, Namecheap, GoDaddy or another suitable provider.

Deliverables
• Wireframes and design mockups.
• Fully functional website.
• Source code and documentation.
• SEO-optimized content structure.
• Security and performance report.
• Post-launch support and maintenance.
• Hosting platform setup and configuration.
• Hand over passwords to the hosting platform.

Timeline
The estimated timeline for the project is 3 weeks with the following milestones:
• Week 1: Requirement gathering and design approval, website development, and initial testing.
• Week 2: Finalisation, security checks, performance optimisation, user testing, launch, and training.
• Week 3: Post-launch support required including any technical glitches

Technical Requirements
• Responsive design that is compatible with all screen sizes.
• Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)-friendly structure and content.
• Secure website with (Secure Sockets Layer) SSL certificate and protection against vulnerabilities.
• Fast-loading pages with optimized images and code.
• Content Management Systems (CMS) like WordPress, Joomla, or custom-built as per needs.
• Demonstration of past at least 10 active websites
• Provide ongoing support for a period of up to one month in case of any technical glitches

Responsibilities
• Client: Provide content, branding assets, and feedback on deliverables.
• Developer: Ensure high-quality code, security, and timely delivery.

Payment Terms
• The rate of payment offered for this work after successful delivery of assigned deliverables

Evaluation Criteria
• Portfolio and experience in website development.
• Technical expertise and familiarity with required technologies.
• Ability to meet deadlines and communicate effectively.
