To participate in the design, planning, and optimization of MTN Uganda's VAS and Intelligent Network (IN) platforms to ensure a cost-efficient, high-performance network architecture, and facilitating the timely delivery of quality products and services in alignment with the organization’s strategic objectives.

Job Title: VAS & IN Planning Engineer (Level 2)

Reports to: Senior -  Consultant IN/VAS Planning

No. of Vacancies: 1

Main Job Functions:

• To participate in the design, planning and optimization of VAS and IN (Ericsson charging System) and platforms to ensure MTN retains its position as the most innovative and relevant service provider.
• Ensure that all IN requirements are gathered and supported by the MTN U network and Support Product design and configurations.
• Ensure resilience and redundancy of VAS/IN systems and ensure best practice planning of all VAS/IN services/systems.
• Regular capacity audits to ensure adequate and efficient monitoring of VAS/IN systems.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunication / Electrical Engineering or any other relevant degree.

Work Experience

• Unix/Solaris/Linux and Database Administration Skills.
• 1 years’ experience in VAS and IN (Charging System) planning or operations
• 1 years’ experience in Mobile GSM Network Environment
• 1 years’ experience in UNIX shell scripting, database administration

Skills / physical competencies:

• Competence with Oracle/ MySql Databases.
  • Proficiency in UNIX and LINUX operating systems.
  • Strong shell scripting skills and Proficiency in at least 1 programming language
  • Good IP networking knowledge
  • Better organization and supervisory skills
  • Product design, development, configuration and programming
  • Software applications development lifecycle
  • Telecom Charging system basics
  • Server and database administration
  • UNIX shell scripting
